My Hunger to Learn
I have so many areas that I have discovered that I love about the culinary industry. I love learning new techniques as well as learning about regions, cultures, ingredients and their origins. I love learning how things are done traditionally and coming up with creative ways to add something new to the flavor profile or a new or modernist technique to rustic dish. Here you will find additional classes and Open Labs offered by the Culinary Instructors of the Art Institute of Wisconsin that I had the pleasure to partake in.
I have also included some of the events that I have been privileged to be in as a part of the various clubs that are offered in the Culinary program….Go Team MobiKitch!!! Club MobiKitch is a club that offers the culinary students the opportunity to expand their training and technique by having additional time in the kitchens at the Art Institute of Wisconsin while gaining real world experience in the catering division. The club offers catering services to the community that we live, work, and learn in. It is a fantastic club to be a part of as we learn more about streamlining a menu to fit the client’s needs. It is interesting creating a vegetarian, wheat and gluten free, holiday, casual, and upscale menus.
We also have the opportunity to be in various competitions with other culinary students. I love that our culinary program offers so much more than just a curriculum but rather creates a community within a community for us to be able to work with other students and instructors and learn from them as well as share ideas. This kind of exchange is invaluable to me and I love it!
